Chapter 3

Book of Revelation

Sardis

1

KJV:  And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

James 2:14-17

Faith and Deeds

14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (NIV)

The church of Sardis represents the angel that is my brother Art.

Similarities between Sardis and Art:

  1. The city of Sardis was the wealthiest of the seven ancient church cities; Artie is the wealthiest of the siblings. He was a successful business owner for many years.  He made $100,000 from a new house he had built in Florida after only six years.
  2. The city of Sardis commanded the wide and fertile plain; Artie lives close to fields (of corn and figuratively, wheat). The Wheat Penny was produced in 1946 – the year of Artie’s birth.
  3. Much of the city of Sardis was newly constructed; In 2006, Art had a new house built in Indiana.
  4. Sardis had a devastating earthquake; Artie survived a serious auto collision.
  5. Sardis was a chief city of the Hermus Valley; Arties is patriarch of the family.  He also lives in a lowland area much like a valley.
  6. Sardis served as a district juridical capital for Roman administrative system.  Artie was a successful business owner and is a wonderful negotiator.
  7. Sardis received the title “temple warden” three times; Art handled all the legal arrangements of mother Angeline’s two funerals and her burial arrangement buying for her a protective cement case that is around her coffin, which in ancient times was known as a sarcophagus – fit for a Queen!
  8. The city of Sardis had a large bath complex; Art’s new house has a large master bathroom that has a large shower and a large whirlpool bathtub.
  9. The City of Sardis had military strength; Artie served in the Vietnam War.
  10. Sardis was situated on an important highway; Art lives close to a major highway.
  11. In Sardis there was an impressive temple of Artemis; Art certainly impressed me.
Christians frequently ravaged the country around Sardis; Barbara has often tried to talk to Art about the Good News.
  12. The inscriptions at Sardis prove evidence for the continued vitality; Art is always busy working on his new home keeping him vital.  I also heard he likes to date and has had a few girlfriends in the past recent years.
  13. Christianity took deep root in Sardis despite oppression; Art knows much of the Bible telling me that as a child he had to read the Bible often and told me about the story of The Tower of Babel.  I was impressed.  He seems to oppress the knowledge that he has.  When he was talking to me about my revelations, he saw a “smoky” vision moving towards him as he sat on my balcony.
  14. An important find at Sardis included pottery.  Art has one china cup from Mother that looks like the set used in the movie “Storm of the Century.”

Art is kind and giving which gives him his reputation for being alive.

Art’s angel of the church name is Sardis.

2

KJV:  Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

Because Art is 2nd to the oldest of the seven angels of the seven churches and is nearing old age, he needs to be watchful for revelations, strengthen your body and soul or it will end up in the second death.  His acts of mercy are not perfect.

Matthew 19:21

KJV:  Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

James 4:17

Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. (NIV)

3

KJV:  Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Remember what you were taught from the Bible when you were young, hang on to it and repent.

“I will come on thee as a thief” means Debbie had to borrow money for the return flight to get back to the States after David didn’t show to testify.

At that time, I didn’t realize that David’s “seven-year plan” ends June 24, 2009 or 6-24-09. A full seven years after he moved in his Dyer house directly across the street from Debra.

Ezekiel 37:25
They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children's children will live there forever, and David my servant will be their prince forever. (NIV)

Genesis 29:18
Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, "I'll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel." (NIV)

I believe God is giving Art a chance to redeem himself at his eleventh hour.  No one, no matter how hard they work, can work someone else’s way into Heaven. God has asked Art to be watchful.

4

KJV:  Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

few  (fy)

adj. few·er, few·est

1. Amounting to or consisting of a small number: one of my few bad habits.

2. Being more than one but indefinitely small in number: bowled a few strings.

n. (used with a pl. verb)

1. An indefinitely small number of persons or things: A few of the books have torn jackets.

2. An exclusive or limited number: the discerning few; the fortunate few.

pron. (used with a pl. verb)

A small number of persons or things: "For many are called, but few are chosen" Matthew 22:14.

Art is the patriarch of the family.  The names in your letter are not your own children; they are your brothers and sisters who are the angels of the churches -

Revelation 2:17
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna.
I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.
Revelation 2:16-18 (in Context) Revelation 2 (Whole Chapter)

Revelation 3:5
He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.
Revelation 3:4-6 (in Context) Revelation 3 (Whole Chapter)

Revelation 3:12
Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.

de·file 1  (d-fl)

tr.v. de·filed, de·fil·ing, de·files

1. To make filthy or dirty; pollute: defile a river with sewage.

2. To debase the pureness or excellence of; corrupt: a country landscape that was defiled by urban sprawl.

3. To profane or sully (a reputation, for example).

4. To make unclean or unfit for ceremonial use; desecrate: defile a temple.

5. To violate the chastity of.

5

KJV:  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

White is a symbol of cleanliness through the proper repentance, turning from sin and believing in the gospel and overcoming worldly desires – these shall be clothed in white.  Not actually the wearing of white clothing but rather clothing oneself with the Lord Jesus Christ which would include putting on the Armor of God, following His Laws and Decrees.

The Book of Life (Hebrew: ספר החיים, transliterated Sefer HaChaim) is the allegorical book in which God records the names and lives of the righteous.

Luke 10:20

KJV:  Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Hebrews 12:23

Our Father Who Art in Heaven…

Say, Art have you seen how many times your name appears in the King James Version? The answer is 650.

Bible, King James Version

1 to 100 matches of 650.

Gen.3

1.      [9] And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

6

KJV: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Whoever has ears, hear what the (Holy) Spirit says to the churches. I hope my brother Art doesn’t end up with the goats.  I sure think he is a great guy and with no church attendance set a fine example for his children – this can be seen by the quality of his children, Jason and Laura.

Matthew 25:31-46

The Sheep and the Goats

31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Philadelphia

7

KJV:  And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

………………………………………………………………………………

The church of Philadelphia represents the angel that is my brother Jeff.

Similarities between Philadelphia and Jeffrey:

  1. The ancient city of Philadelphia suffered an earthquake in 17 A.D.; Jeff had a very serious auto accident when he was 17 years old. The car struck a tree and Jeff was thrown into the back seat.  He had bruising about his eyes for a long, long time.  I remember someone telling me his eyes were the size of golf balls.
  2. “full of earthquakes, for the walls never cease being cracked” would be equivalent to Jeff’s skin – due to the skin condition, Psoriasis, he has cracks in his skin that never cease.
  3. Vineyards flourished in the volcanic soil would be equivalent to Jeffrey’s past drinking that would have made his skin condition worse and when you have “flare ups” with Psoriasis, the skin can get very inflamed and red and even bleed.
  4. Philadelphos", literally meaning "one who loves his brother".  I am not ashamed to say that Jeff is my favorite brother due to his kindness toward me.  We were very close when we were young. He would play board games with me and he often took Mom and I for a long country drive in the car.
  5. Philadelphia, abbreviation:  PA = Pa (dad).  Jeff was our surrogate father after Dad passed away in 1976.  See the seal of the modern city of Philadelphia – there is one blonde and one brunette like Diane and myself:

Jesus has the key to David.  Jesus opens the Book of Revelation and closes it.  (Greek mysterion, from myein, "to shut", "to close".)

Luke 11:52 (King James Version)

KJV:  Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

The following reports about David appear much, much later in the NIV Study Bible; King David died in the book of 1 Kings (p.474), but a new David appears in this later, prophetic book of Ezekiel (p.1294) and Hosea (p.1347):

Ezekiel 34:23
I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd. (NIV)
Ezekiel 34:24
I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them. I the LORD have spoken. (NIV)
Ezekiel 37:24
" 'My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd. They will follow my laws and be careful to keep my decrees. (NIV)
Ezekiel 37:25
They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children's children will live there forever, and David my servant will be their prince forever. (NIV)
Hosea 3:5
Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days. (NIV)

I believe David will tell all believers how to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

8

KJV:  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

He’s tired because he works hard to support his family and helps neighbors and gives his time to the church.

9

KJV:  Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

I thought that our close ancestors were probably Jewish, but I didn’t realize it was a lie.  Jeff mentioned to me that when our brother Alvin was alive that he said that our dad was Jewish, but he was not because he was German and a Methodist. His name is Arthur Kellerman, Sr.

Hebrews 12:6
because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son." (NIV)

.

Jeffrey is active in his church.  A few years ago Jeff sold his newer red pick up truck and bought a new Harley Davidson motorcycle leaving his family without a second vehicle. He eventually bought a used car. Jeff took his older daughter, Grace, out on rides around town.  According to Jeff’s wife, Gail, Jeffrey was starting to visit the pubs in town but was reportedly not drinking. A reformed alcoholic knows it is best not to go into bars. In September 2007, Jeff had a motorcycle accident and was hospitalized with injuries that included a broken foot. When I went to visit him in his small room, the nurse had me move from my seat on my brother’s right side to the foot of the bed. I kept looking at his feet; I always looked up to my brother Jeffrey.

10

KJV:  Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11

KJV:  Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

12

KJV:  Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

When you are victorious, you will be a strong pillar in God’s temple.

New name is your angel of your church name.

13

KJV:  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Everyone who has an ear should hear what God says to the churches. We should heed all the letters.

Laodicea

14

KJV:  And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

………………………………………………………………………………

The church of Laodicea represents the seventh angel that is my brother Chuck.  Similarities between Laodicea and Chuck:

  1. The ancient City of Laodicea was an important banking center.  After dad passed, Chuck lived close by in Crete, IL and would often help Mom manage her checkbook and taught her how to do enter debits and credits in her checkbook.
  2. Like Laodicea, Chuck had a rival to the north named Barbara.  She was always trying to tell him what to do with his life and he would often complain about her preaching.
  3. Laodicea was known for its rich black wool from sheep; Chuck was very wild for a long time, but I never thought of him as a black sheep.

  1. The city of Laodicea suffered greatly during the Mithdriatic Wars; Chuck and his wife had battles that lasted on and off many years.
  2. The city of Laodicea benefited from its position on a trade route; Chuck has his own “trade route” via the Internet where he buys and sells items and helps others do the same.
  3. Laodicea suffered from earthquakes, especially from the great shock in the reign of Nero (60 AD) in which it was completely destroyed, but the inhabitants declined imperial assistance to rebuild the city and restored it from their own means. Chuck has always been self sufficient, often reinventing himself. He suffers from adult Onset Diabetes after years of living of lifestyle of excess but being the strong person he is, persevered by correcting his bad behaviors and like the ancient city restored himself.
  4. Laodicea was not behind in science and literature; Chuck has a large library of encyclopedias and many other books and has even retained some of Dad’s National Geographic magazines.
  5. Laodicea’s wealthy citizens embellished Laodicea with beautiful monuments; Chuck has in-laws that are more well to do than we were and gave them their beautiful daughter Nancy. As Art put it, she was “drop-dead gorgeous” on her wedding day.

15

KJV:  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

Chuck has read the Bible and other types of books about religion but is indifferent to Jesus Christ being the Son of God.

16

KJV:  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Verb1.spue - expel or eject (saliva or phlegm or sputum) from the mouth; "The father of the victim spat at the alleged murderer"

ptyalise, ptyalize, spew, spit

cough out, cough up, expectorate, spit up, spit out - discharge (phlegm or sputum) from the lungs and out of the mouth

2.spue - eject the contents of the stomach through the mouth; "After drinking too much, the students vomited"; "He purged continuously"; "The patient regurgitated the food we gave him last night"

barf, be sick, puke, regorge, retch, sick, throw up, upchuck, vomit, vomit up, disgorge, cat, spew, regurgitate, chuck, honk, purge, cast

egest, excrete, eliminate, pass - eliminate from the body; "Pass a kidney stone"

17

KJV:  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

In an e-mail I have from Chuck from 2006, he said he was content with everything in his life and didn’t want or need anything.

18

KJV:  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Buy a good deed, repent and put on white clothing to hide your nakedness; buy ointment for your eyes so that you may see.

When Chuck republishes my updated work it will be after I have taken out what I guessed at (what is false) and what was accomplished after I had gone through a fire of testing, which would now make the work “gold tried in the fire” especially after Rev. 19:20 where I was captured.

I noticed that Charles sent out a Christian Christmas card to the family in December 2008.  Actions speak louder than words.

1 Peter 1:7

These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

19

KJV:  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Because he loves you, he disciplines you.
